Objective

To provide a clear and concise procedure for using the auto-assign feature in ResearchLogic for efficiently assigning properties to new publications, ensuring accuracy in cancer relevance, peer review status, and external collaborations.

Key Steps

  1. Access Administrative Settings

    • Log into the ResearchLogic platform.

    • Navigate to Administrative Settings.

  2. Manage Term Dictionaries

    • Click on Manage Term Dictionaries.

    • Locate and select the Cancer Terms Dictionary.

    • Review or update the dictionary as needed to ensure it contains relevant cancer terms.

  3. Review Publication Affiliations

    • Go to the Assignments section using the provided ResearchLogic link.

    • Check the list of affiliations for the specific publication.

    • Navigate to Administrative Settings and select Manage Affiliations.

    • Review the list of possible institution names to ensure all relevant affiliations are included.

  4. Auto-Assign Values

    • In the Assignments section, identify the publication types.

    • If a publication is categorized as a journal article, it will automatically assign the peer review status as "yes."

    • Select the publications you want to update.

    • Click on the Auto Assign button to apply the settings.

  5. Review Auto-Assigned Values

    • After auto-assigning, check the columns for:

      • Identified Cancer Terms

      • Peer Reviewed

      • Identified External Collaboration

    • Conduct a quick review of the auto-assigned values.

  6. Make Adjustments if Necessary

    • If any of the auto-assigned values are incorrect or need modification, make the necessary changes manually.

Cautionary Notes

  • Ensure that the Cancer Terms Dictionary is up-to-date before using the auto-assign feature to avoid missing critical terms.

  • Double-check the affiliations to prevent incorrect external collaborations from being assigned.

  • Review the auto-assigned values carefully, as incorrect assignments can lead to misreporting in CCSG documentation.

Tips for Efficiency

  • Regularly update the Cancer Terms Dictionary and Affiliations list to minimize the need for manual adjustments.

  • Familiarize yourself with common cancer terms and publication types to quickly identify any discrepancies during the review process.

  • Use the auto-assign feature in batches to save time, but ensure to review each batch thoroughly to maintain accuracy.
