Use Case:
You would like to grant access for a user to access the administrative side of Research Logix.
Step 1: Create a user account for the user.
From the left navigation select Administrative Users, to access the Administrative Users for your Research Logix account.
This page will list all of your existing Administrative Users for your Research Logix account. To add a new user, select Add Administrator. To edit an existing user, select Actions next to the user you would like to manage.
To create a new user in Research Logix, you'll need to enter:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Valid Email Address
Click Create Administrator after entering in all the information.
Note: If you are attempting to add a new administrator that already has a Research Logix Profile, the system will automatically identify that person by their email address to avoid duplicating a user.
Step 2: Assign Permissions
After creating the Research Logix Profile, you'll want to assign the permissions for the user. There are several components within the platform, so you can tailor the access by managing the user's permission(s). To manage permissions, locate your newly created profile, select Actions, and then select Permissions.
This will take you to the Permissions for the user. Use the provided switches to toggle access to each of the components. Select only the permissions that you feel should be accessed by the user. Each of the permissions will have a description to help you determine what that permission will allow. After selecting the permission(s), click Save.
Step 3: Send an Invitation
After you have assigned permissions for your account, you are ready to send an invitation to the new administrator. To send an invitation. Select Actions next to the person you just created, and click Actions from the dropdown. This will take you to the Actons page for this user. From here you can do a variety of administrative actions. Select Send Invitation to send an Invitation page for this user.
The Invitation Email has a standard dialog. However, you can use the provided text box to send a customized message to the user. Customize your text, and then click Send Invitation.
The user will receive a message from Research Logix (no-reply@rlogx.com). If this is a brand new user, the email will contain a temporary password for them to log in if they are using Research Logix authentication. If you are currently using University Single Sign On (SSO), the user will be able to use that option to sign in for the first time. In order for this to work correctly, you will need to create the profile with their university email address to appropriately link the Research Logix Profile to a university profile.
